welshdoc Posted 21 November , 2005 Share Posted 21 November , 2005 Hi Biffo your man was 28 yr old number 37366 follow the link you will have to copy and paste http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/casualty_...casualty=543731 Im not sure if Trehafod has a memorial but look at the Imperial war museum website and there is a new section on war memorials (linked to the new chanel 4 prog). I cant access the site from this PC. From Trehafod he may be a distant relative, but theres a hell of a lot of Thomas's in this part of the world. Makes it more difficult to research so much easier with a strange name. Just remember him once a year and his memory will not fade. Ive adopted a couple of casualties myself. Sounds silly but you feel you are doing something for the poor souls. Cheers gareth

welshdoc Posted 22 November , 2005 Share Posted 22 November , 2005 Hi Biffo, its hardly likely that you will find out anything about how Dvr thomas was killed or died directly from official sources. The CWGC tells afair amount but there is a CD ROM soldiers died in the great war which has more details. This cost £280 but there are several members on teh forum who are happy to check it for you. Just post SDGW lookup, give the deatls including number and hope . Also you may be lucky and be able to get some information from local newspapers. I doubt Trehafod had its own paper and from memory I think its a tiny place between Porth and Pontyprydd. The latter would be your best bet have a look at the council website. If there is a heritage officer or equivalent you could try to ask them if hes on the local town memorial. Good luck researching. Gareth
