KORL is at the forefront of the research part of my brain. I am currently up to my ears in paperwork about dead Stopfordians who served with them.

thanks for confirming steve post, just wondering how he ended up with the korl as he was from devon and both his brothers jioned devon regiments, any ideas????

thanks for the link, any idea how i can confirm its the right charles pugsley??

my charles was taked prisoner a week into the germans spring offensive in march 1918.

Luck of the draw, pure and simple. Apart from the first few months of war (when recruits could pretty much pick and choose), men were sent wherever was the greatest need.

It has to be your Charles. He's the only with that name and who served in that regiment listed in the Medal Index Cards on-line at the National Archives. Be thankful you are not searching for Fred Smith ;)

thanks for the reply, any idea where he might have served, all i know is the he was taken prisoner a week after the germans started their spring offensive in march 1918.

is there any where or way i can find out more about his capture/confinment i.e where he may have been held or when he was released to come home??

Not that I know of. Info on prisoners is pretty sketchy.

Hi There,

You could always try the Kings Own Royal Border Regimental Museum in Lancaster they might have the war diaries for the period. Unfortunately I do not have their Web Address, but will endeavour to find it and post it.
