John_Hartley Posted 16 November , 2005 Share Posted 16 November , 2005 Steven KORL is at the forefront of the research part of my brain. I am currently up to my ears in paperwork about dead Stopfordians who served with them. John

Apart from the first few months of war (when recruits could pretty much pick and choose), men were sent wherever was the greatest need. It has to be your Charles. He's the only with that name and who served in that regiment listed in the Medal Index Cards on-line at the National Archives. Be thankful you are not searching for Fred Smith John

Guest Big Al Posted 17 November , 2005 Share Posted 17 November , 2005 Hi There, You could always try the Kings Own Royal Border Regimental Museum in Lancaster they might have the war diaries for the period. Unfortunately I do not have their Web Address, but will endeavour to find it and post it.
