Guest nickyr Posted 14 November , 2005 Share Posted 14 November , 2005 I am researching my great uncle Bennett Newman. The 1901 Census shows him as being in the 3rd Wilshire Battalion. I have visited the NA and looked at his militia records for this period. He was killed in action on 10th August 1918 while he was a gunner in the 4th Battalion Tank corps and I have been able to find a lot of information about the tank corps. However Soldiers who died in The Great War has the following: Supplementary Notes FORMERLY 617, WILTSHIRE ROYAL ENGINEERS Can anyone help me with any details on this? I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to matters military. Hoping someone can help. Nicky
