AOK4 Posted 14 August , 2003 Posted 14 August , 2003 Hello, There's a thread somewhere about this. Just type in Fromelles or something like that in the search engine and you'll undoubtedly find it. Regards, Jan
Ally Posted 15 March , 2006 Posted 15 March , 2006 Hello, Your forum was very helpful to me last year. Now I am trying to find out about another relative who fought in the 55th bn, AIF at Fromelles. He was taken prisoner of the Germans on 20th July, 1916. I have found a record which I cannot understand. It looks like he was held prisoner at GEF.Dulmen.i.west f, according to a list supplied by the Germans on 12.8.1916, and was being held at Gef: Munster 2 on a German list of 30.9.1916. Presumably these are the names of POW camps in Germany ?? A google search fails to bring anything up. I may have the spelling wrong, as the online record was difficult to read clearly. If anyone can shed any light on this I would be most grateful. Maybe somebody knows where Aussies who were taken prisoner at the disastrous battle of Fromelles were taken?? Many thanks for your help. Cheers, Ally McRae
