I have the feeling that they were issued but not too many survive with their medal allocation. GAreth
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 13 November , 2005 Share Posted 13 November , 2005 All MiDs should have {Eventually} received a certificate, most WW1 era ones have the Facsimile signature of Churchill, they were not issued until after the end of the War. Guest Simon Bull Posted 13 November , 2005 Share Posted 13 November , 2005 Can I ask a supplementary which is very slightly off topic - did WW2 MiDs get a certificate? I ask this because I have seen a photograph of my wife's grandfather with an oak leaf on his tunic and the family believe him to have been MiD, but I can find no record of it. I have tried searching myself on the London Gazette and failed. His name was John Cumming and he served in Italy as a doctor, I presume with the RAMC. If anyone can find him I would be very grateful.
