Muerrisch Posted 11 November , 2005 Share Posted 11 November , 2005 I am wearing my genuine Australian silk poppy, bought a year ago in a remote outback township. The children filed out from school, stood before the flag, had prayers and sang. I did a little weep. The poppy is smaller than the Brit. one, with a proper attachment. If I recall, it was sold at a fixed price, $ Au 2. Seeing it takes me back .... Oh that glorious sunshine, and the friendly, generous people. Except re. Rugger and Cricket. sherree Posted 11 November , 2005 Share Posted 11 November , 2005 I was a bit miffed. I gave a donation to the RSL for a poppy, at a shopping centre in Perth. It is red, it does have a black centre, but it is not a poppy at all, more like a rose bud. I said to the guys, 'hey this isn't a poppy' and they mumbled something about changes.
