Terry Carter Posted 10 November , 2005 Share Posted 10 November , 2005 Hi Folks As were getting close to Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday, I have been watching a re-run of a BBC programme shown on UK History on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights this week. 'The Lost World Of Mitchell & Kenyon' two Blackburn film-makers the results of 800 reels of archive film of ordinary folk in the pre-war Edwardian period, mostly 1901, 1902 etc The Quality of the film shown was very good and most scenes show many, many young boys either playing, waving to the camera or coming out of their work-places after many hours of working in the cotton-mills. I just cannot help thinking, looking at their faces, that in 14 odd years time, these young happy faces would be men in the middle to late twenties and serving on the Western Front. I wonder how many of their graves I have walked past on my trips to France and Belgium or their names on memorials I have visited? Terry
