Guest westrichard Posted 10 November , 2005 Share Posted 10 November , 2005 I'm writing a commisioned biography for publication in October 2006. My subject, Harry Price, claimed that he set up and ran a munitions factory next to his house at Arun Bank Pulborough, Sussex in the Great War. I've looked through the Controlled Establishments list at the IWM and found that this isn't true. My theory is that was hired as a working hand in one of the few factories producing muinitions in Sussex, possibly Brighton and worked for Allen West manufacturing No 101E fuses. Does anyone have information on this factory? Also, Price claimed he next worked as a foreman at Grimshaw, Baxter and JJ Elliott, clockmakers of Gray's Inn Road producing 'the clockwork mechanism for fuses and parts of the Mills hand grenade.' Likewise I'd really appreciate any info anyone can give me on this or indeed on Harry Price. Suffice to say, I've checked his archive at the University of London but this has yielded no clues. Many thanks Richard
