Kind regards, Marco <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't help you with the TV prog I'm afraid, but there is a video available from Amazon.de called Douaumont. German made and a mixture of modern reenactment and archive film from both sides. It covers more of the battle of Verdun than the title suggests. Brian Buck Posted 11 November , 2005 Share Posted 11 November , 2005 Marco, I was looking to see what was on Arte today, 11/11, and saw 'L'Heroique Cinematographe' (about WW1) was on this afternoon so I recorded it (48 minutes). When I looked at it the German title is 'Die Kameramanner von Verdun'. I have had a quick scan through it and it seems to be a general film taken in WW1 and only some of it is about Verdun. The dialogue is in German. If you want a copy on DVD please send me a message with your address. When I watched Arte a few years ago (on Astra Analogue) I was able to receive it all in French. Now some of the programmes are in German and some, fewer, in French. I would like to have them all in French (Arte is a French/German channel). Any ideas if this is possible? Marco Posted 11 November , 2005 Author Share Posted 11 November , 2005 Hello Brian, Many thanks for your kind offer. I will contact you tomorrow when I have some time because I have a question. A fellow forum member pointed this link out to me: http://www.arte-tv.com/fr/1004818.html which says the documentary is a co-production with the AVRO. This is a Dutch company and a few months back we had a documentary on Dutch TV about filming 'during' the Great War. I think that although the titles differ they are the same program. If that is the case than I already have it. If ok with you I would like to compare notes if they are indeed the same. Kind regards, Marco
Brian Buck Posted 11 November , 2005 Share Posted 11 November , 2005 Marco, It was made in 2003. I have had a look at the opening: Une coproduction Quark Productions ECPAD France 3 Nord Pas-de-Calais Picardie INA Avro avec la participation de France 2 Un film de Laurent Veray et Agnes de Sacy From this you should be able to see if you already have it. The German title about Verdun is, I think, misleading Brian
Marco Posted 13 November , 2005 Author Share Posted 13 November , 2005 Hello Brian, I had a look and it turns out the doc. shown on Dutch TV is the same as the one on ARTE. But thanks again for your offer. Kind regards, Marco
Brian Buck Posted 13 November , 2005 Share Posted 13 November , 2005 Marco, Thanks, I can dispose of it. If anyone can help I would still like advice in receiving ARTE in French all the time, if this is possible.

healdav Posted 14 November , 2005 Share Posted 14 November , 2005 ARTE is broadcast in both French and German on separate channels. If you want the French you will have to hunt through the channels to find the one you want (same programmes). I found that at one stage I was getting the French programmes then changed Video recorder and got the German continually. I had to retune to get the French again. zephyr4 Posted 14 November , 2005 Share Posted 14 November , 2005 I have just checked Astra 1E (19.2E) - 11567.50 V - DVB - 22000 5/6 and its in dual audio, French and German.
healdav Posted 14 November , 2005 Share Posted 14 November , 2005 Sorry, I was thinking of those who get it from the ground. On cable it is two completely separate channels. On satellite each language comes out of a separate speaker i.e. no stereo (or something like that).
zephyr4 Posted 14 November , 2005 Share Posted 14 November , 2005 @healdav. On some digital satellite channels they transmit more than one audio channel maybe up to four channels all stereo and some are in dolby digital.

If I go DVB I lose the free Eurosport! Thanks for the satellite website.
