post-8373-1131505440.jpgI have a photo in my possession and have no idea who the photo is of

I had Great Grand Relative that was listed with the Cheshire Regiment 2nd Battalion and was killed in action 1915 in France.

I would like to know if anyone can identify this uniform

These three appear to be Royal Artillery types, hat badges, bandoleers, spurs, etc and the chap on the left is wearing what appears to be a gun layers badge on his arm.

The Cheshire Regt, Regulars that is, wore a white metal, eight pointed star with a gilding metal acorn and leaves in the center and a white metal, title scroll beneath.

Hi,

The gentleman seated looks like he's from one of the London regiments possible the Artist Rifles.  The cap badge looks like Mars & Minerva.

I think it's a trick of the light, Neil. All gunners, I would say. What's the badge on the arm of the guy on the left? Lewis Gunner?

Certainly all Roayal Artillery with lanyards, cross belts and the classic cap badge. But is that a Lewis Gunner on the sleeve as its not really a main stream RA function.

It's not a Lewis Gunner (that says 'LG') ; it is actually 'L' for Gun Layer.

Phil,

Thanks I thought it had to be main stream RA as LG jut seemed a wee bit off beam.

Thanks,

Rob
