Another One In From The Cold

My brother and I have recieved the good news from CWGC this morning that Pte Charles Brazier, who was killed in action on 12th April 1918, will be commemorated on the Addenda Panel of the Ploegsteert Memorial in due course.

Whilst researching a Cheltonian who was serving with 2/7th Bn Royal Warks Regt who was also killed in action on the same day during the battles on the Lys, we discovered that 19 year old Charles Brazier, born in Micheldever Hants, was somehow omitted from the lists of casualties provided by the Army to the IWGC/CWGC and was never commemorated.

The only evidence we presented to CWGC/MoD last June was Brazier's listing in SDGW and, crucially, his death certificate.

We will raise a glass or two to him this evening.

Regards

Jimmy

Well done, Jimmy.

The death certificate is always the crucial evidence as you have to prove the death occurred. As it would have been an Overseas Certificate, I assume it bore his full army details (number/unit etc).
