armourersergeant Posted 1 November , 2005 Share Posted 1 November , 2005 Thought some might like to know that 'The Educated Soldier' by John Terraine the bio of Haig that re-wrote many's perception of the man has been reprinted in paperback form. regards Arm
squirrel Posted 2 November , 2005 Share Posted 2 November , 2005 Worth a punt at the paperback price - enjoyed reading it.
Justin Moretti Posted 8 November , 2005 Share Posted 8 November , 2005 I stumbled across this by chance - about $22 Australian for what is really a very thick book. A steal! An excellent read; my only warning is that I got a copy in which the machine that stitches the pages in had completely missed a few; i.e. they had not ripped out, they had simply not had the stitcher pass through them in the first place. And so they fell out as soon as the book was opened to that point. Therefore, if your copy is shrink-wrapped, unwrap and check it before you leave the store (which in my case was 80km away, and I had to spend 2hrs on the train going to exchange it). The store was Napoleon's Bookstore on York Street in Sydney (shameless plug: www.napoleons.biz), and they replaced it without hesitation.
paul guthrie Posted 9 November , 2005 Share Posted 9 November , 2005 I got this in paperback years ago, maybe 10. Terraine is terrific whatever you think of Hiag it's essential reading, w/o reading it I don't think one is qualified to criticise him.
