This is only loosely a unit history and is wholly unofficial and may not tell many facts you do not already know as it covers general movements and events by 4th Division and not specifics. It is more observations of the commander himself on things done wrong during the retreat by command and others. It gives some incite into the man himself in some of the comments he makes regarding those above him and many below him. It must also be seen in the light it was written by a man who had been relieved of command in late 1917 and had a certain axe perhaps to grind.
