Tony N Posted 21 October , 2005 Share Posted 21 October , 2005 Hello, Can someone please help by checking on Lt. GKG Kerr who served in the KSLI (on 14/15 star) and later the RFC (on BWM & VM). I've checked the CWGC site and the only RFC/RAF Kerr was RW Kerr. Also, what is the reason for a medal being impressed RFC instead of RAF? Wasn't the change made in April 1918? Thanks Tony
Spud Trevor Posted 21 October , 2005 Share Posted 21 October , 2005 Hello Tony, There is no Lt. G.K.G Kerr listed on the officers died c.d. The only G Kerr listed is a 2/Lt G.A.L Kerr k.i.a with the Bedfords. Regards, Spud
Spud Trevor Posted 21 October , 2005 Share Posted 21 October , 2005 Tony, Had a second thought and had a look in 'The Sky Their Battlefield' book, this lists all allied air casualties from enemy action (ww1). No mention of your chap in this book either. Regards, Spud

MattyBoy Posted 21 October , 2005 Share Posted 21 October , 2005 Hi tony, go here: http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/archiveSe...e=0&Referer=WW1 And type in his name. Maybe the reason for the inscription was that Kerr was in the RFC before it became the RAF ? Regards, Matt.

Tom Morgan Posted 21 October , 2005 Share Posted 21 October , 2005 Also, what is the reason for a medal being impressed RFC instead of RAF? Wasn't the change made in April 1918? Thanks Tony <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The regiment/corps/unit on the medal will be the one the man was in when his service qualified him for the medal.
