Joe Walsh Posted 19 October , 2005 Share Posted 19 October , 2005 I have a great Uncle in the great war and he was a grave digger. I assume he was in the pioneer corps. But is there any particular branch he would of been in i.e. The Labour Corps? And did they only dig graves andf why would young healthy men be used to dig graves instead of fighting? My Grandad was in the Cheshire Regiment and on his service papers up near the top of the first page it says 3 Cheshire Regiment. Does this mean he was in the 3rd battalion?
