The MICs have 50 specified 8th battalion men in the 16000s whereas other battalions manage one or two.

So if I had to GUESS his battalion I would say 8th.

However, since the 8th RF were disbanded in the February 1918 shake-up, he would have been in some other battalion in mid-1918. Perhaps the 9th in the same (12th) Division? Lots of guesses there!

What was his 1914-15 Star qualifying date?

Steve.

FYI a Frederick Worsfold is commemorated on the Leatherhead War Memorial but is listed as 1st East Surreys and killed on 28/9/16 and with no MM. Another Worsfold (William) is also listed on the memorial . Again he is listed as 1st East Surreys and is on the Vis-en Artois Memorial. Died 21/8/18. He lived in Bridge St Leatherhead and was son of William and Jane.

Be careful if you ever intend to visit as it's sadly locked. An appointment is needed.

These guys plus the M.M Frederick may have been related due to the Leatherhead connection - although Esher is a few miles away, I suppose. I wonder if the surviving Frederick ever went to see his namesake (relative ?) at the memorial - perhaps proudly wearing that MM and thinking "There but for the grace of God... "

Interestingly, Marina's F Worsfold of the Coldstreams is not on the Leatherhead war memorial even though he too has a Leatherhead connection - but it doesn't look like he's the correct Frederick either. I must have a further look at this. It's a small world.
