Dear Doug,

Would it be possible to do a look up of the following individuals commemorated on the village war memorial in North Nibley, South Gloucestershire?

1. L/BDR V H Martin : RHA

2. J Venn : RN

3. H N Talboys :RE

4. P.W Parsons :Yorks and Lincs

5. S W Talboys : Gloucesters

6. RG Telling :Glouc

7. SJ Woodward :Glouc

8. WC Wyatt :Gloucs

9. CH Elliot :Glouc

10. WG Eliot :R.Fus

11. T Harris :R.N

12. S Jones :M.G.C

13. M.Leonard:RASC

15. CWJ Martin :Glouc

16. C.Bennett :RHA

Just to say I have seen your post and I'm willing to do the look ups but it will have to wait as I'm going on holiday on Sat. I really haven't got the time to complete the work but will do on my return.

Hi Doug,

Does your CD have anything on the following: -

My great uncle, Albert Arthur THORPE, died on the Somme 20 July 1916 and has no known grave. His service record is missing from the burnt series at National Archives.

According to CWGC he was in 4th Btn Suffolk Regt & the medal rolls index has scant info about him.

can you give me a few towns around north nibley? kids have run off with my atlas! i have found a gnr charles bennett from dursley, glos. is that local to the memorial?

Yes, Dursley is just a couple of miles away.

Towns, villages and hamlets in the immediate area;

Stinchcombe

Stancombe

Waterley Bottom

Within a few miles ;

Wotton-Under-Edge
