barrowford29 Posted 9 January , 2008 Share Posted 9 January , 2008 Thank you very, very much for your time and effort coldstreamer. The information and the picture are FANTASTIC. That's really made my day. Thanks to you too doug for your willingness even though you didn't get chance to post. I read something on the net that said the coldstream barracks may have information so 'm going to write to the barracks and see what I can find out about Joseph. Does anyone know if there is a "descendants of the old contemptibles organisation ?" If there isn't does anyone think there should be? Thanks again. kildaremark Posted 13 January , 2008 Share Posted 13 January , 2008 Doug, I'm not sure if you can search SDGW by unit. I was looking to see if 103 Siege Battery RGA suffered any casualties during the war. Just looking for name, rank and number. Thanks Mark

kildaremark Posted 14 January , 2008 Share Posted 14 January , 2008 Thanks Doug and Paul, Looks like a relatively safe or lucky battery to have served in with 'only' five killed? Got Plowman's DCM citation from the London gazette to add to the picture - August 1917 “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in voluntarily proceeding under heavy shell fire to extinguish a fire in his battery ammunition, thereby averting serious damage to material and personnel.” Thanks Mark

Ulsterlad Posted 1 March , 2008 Share Posted 1 March , 2008 Dear Doug, thank you very much for taking the time to look up my requests. Re: Robert Lindsay, I've just found out that full service records for personel in Canadian battalions can be ordered from LAC, so I'll investigate down that avenue. Once again, thank you very much. Kind Regards.

Ulsterlad Posted 1 March , 2008 Share Posted 1 March , 2008 Hi Doug, I wondered about that. I was thinking, 'did the 2003 Doug open a new account in 2007 and call himself Procat?' Of course, now that I look at it, you would have had to have moved to Australia too. Kind Regards.
