Hi Jim

Just emailed you Pendlebury details and asked for Bury/Atherton but realised Atherton is a mistake. Forward me the Tyldesley one as well as Bury please.

Not sure why Atherton is a mistake. I have a photograph of a grave there off BillionGraves but cannot use it as it will be copyright. The grave belongs to Bertha McIntosh, munition worker, who died 13th May 1917. It is in Atherton Cemetery. So if it is one that you can get I should be grateful. I cannot find what my requirement for Bury is so will leave that one. My requirement for Tyldesley is  for a photograph of the grave of Mary Alice Marsh, VAD, who died on the 27th February 1919 and is buried in grave 287, row CE, plot C, Tyldesley Cemetery.

I have not heard of this woman before. As you say, could be served and lived or, perhaps, WW2. If you would check it out I would be grateful.

Can you put your Surrey ones here. We're going to wimbledon on Saturday so may be able to do 1 or 2

Wayne, It will take me quite some time to find them then list. Are you able to home in on any of the places that you might be near as this will be of great help.

Chessington would be best

CHESSINGTON - Margaret Chancellor, VAD, died 27th April 1920 in buried in St. Mary the Virgin churchyard, 4 Garrison Lane, Chessington, KT9 2LB.

Just over four miles away is ESHER. From there I need a photograph of the grave of Emma Elizabeth LONG, VAD, who died in April 1919. She is buried in St. George's churchyard, Esher Park Avenue (KT10 9PX). There is a little bit about her (last item) here :- https://www.surreyinthegreatwar.org.uk/category/health-welfare/disease/?post_type=story

This suggests that St. Georges churchyard was superceded by Christ Church burial ground, %a Church Street, (KT10 8QS) but Emma Long is not listed by Find A Grave, etc, so far as I can see for either place.

Searched st georges churchyard today. No sign of any graves from the 1900s at all. She must be in Christ church but I didn't have time to search there.

Thank you, Wayne. As you surmised, she is one from the parish that served but lived on. She died 21st February 1952 and is buried in St. Michael and our Lady churchyard, Wragby, Wakefield (the church where the Roll of Honour is displayed).

Acknown - Thank you for the offer. One that I have had difficulty with over a number of years was finding out where Lilian Annie Stevens, VAD (died 30th November 1918) was buried. A church index of graves failed to come up with her name. Recent investigation, I think by you, suggests that she is buried in plot D16, St. Pauls cemetery, Malmesbury Road/Langley Road, Chippenham. You have mentioned in a message to me in November last year that the grave is overgrown. Find A Grave suggest that they have photographed 91% of the grave markers and Lilian's is not amongst them. Even if hers is unmarked a photograph would be welcome. The church's website states that their car park is located next to their church hall opposite the church but I cannot guarantee that it is still there as in 1915 they sought planning permission. Good luck.

Our next trip is to Gillingham on the 9th Feb. I could do 2 there so what 2s best

I have assumed Gillingham, Kent. There is Grace Gordon-Jones, VAD, who died in 1919 buried in grave 17.888, Naval Consec., Woodlands Cemetery (also known as Gillingham New Cemetery), Gillingham, Kent.

Yes Kent. Is there 1 more near Gillingham

I looked and couldn't see one. I might be able to find one if I knew which road you would be going in on.
