Hello Jim

What do you need at Airdrie? (nb correct spelling).

Regards

Kenny

PS not forgotten about Edinburgh!

Sorry, Kenny, a mistake on my part. None now required from Airdrie. Out of interest one of my girls is Cora Bell (aged 5) of Edinburgh who was killed in a zeppelin raid in April 1916. Any relation?

My mistake - Linton now taken off.

BURTON ON TRENT - I need a photograph of the grave marker for Sarah Hall Shotton, VAD, who is buried in Stapenhall Cemetery, 38 Stapenhall Road, Burton on Trent. She was interred on the 5th September 1916 and was aged 62.

Which Edinburgh cemetery?  I can possibly get St Andrews as well.

EDINBURGH -

Frances Marion MONEY, VAD, is buried in Dean 2d Cemetery, Edinburgh. I need a photograph of her headstone or plot (if unmarked). It is multi-occupied with Marion Adamson, Norah Newbigging, an unnamed Money baby, Peter Alexander Young, Norman Campbell Young and E.F.D. Money. Because of multi occupancy with no apparent family connections I suspect that the grave is unmarked.

L.A.E. PALMER, VAD is a name on an Honours Board in Edinburgh Library. A photograph of her/his name on it is required.

ST. ANDREWS -

Mary Gregson CHEETHAM died 10th January 1920 and is buried in Eastern Cemetery, St. Andrews. A photo of her grave marker required.

Kenny Bell (a forum member here) has been a prolific photographer for me in Scotland and worth giving him a PM so as to not duplicate work (see post 1726 above).

Jim,

I will do St Andrews tomorrow (Friday) or Sunday.  It will take me 10 minutes to get to the cemetery. It will save Ken and Heid the Ba' some travelling.

Ok will pop down to Stapenhill and as it happens the pub right beside the cemetery, The Elms, is a favourite!  It is a fascinating place and a lot of war graves there.   Will send photo as soon as possible.

Hi Jim got this info below from the cemetery manager, will return for a photo.  Searched in this area already but couldn't find the grave but I believe The kerbs have fallen into the grave so I missed it.  However back on weekend to find it.

Sarah Hall Shotton grave number 2065 section J2 no 6251 and I can't make out the title of column with number 14 below it

Jim, who you after in Ystrad Mynach, Tredegar, Ebbw Vale and Llantwit please?  Chance my relatives may be able to get photos

Hello Alison, Here are my requirements :-

Ystrad Mynach - The name of D. Parry Jones is on the Roll of Honour in the Bethiana-Siloh Calvanistic Chapel. A photograph of it required. Also the name of Amy Laura Whitcombe , QMAAC is shown on the Ystrad Mynach and Hengoed Cenotaph.

Tredegar - The names of Hetty Onions and Rose Powell are on the Roll of Honour formerly in the Wesleyan Chapel, Harcourt Terrace, Tredegar. As I have it as "formerly" I wonder if it has been moved to another chapel nearby.

Ebbw Vale - Mary Ann Evans, QMAAC, is buried in Ebbw Vale cemetery in "B", North border. 16.3. I know that the CWGC has a memorial stone at the entrance to the cemetery but I am hoping that the reference shown will be the actual grave - probably unmarked. Also the name of Doris Genner, WAAC, is at the bottom of a memorial in the James Street Weslyan Chapel although it may have been moved to the Cenotaph. Also Lizzie John, munition worker, is buried in Ebbw Vale Cemetery, Waun-Y-Pound Road. Photograph of her grave marker (or unmarked grave) required.

Llantwit Major - Eva Martha Davies, VAD, is buried in St. Illtud churchyard, Llantwit Major. A photograph of her grave marker required. A photograph of her name off the Llantwit Major War Memorial required.

Jim,

I live in Cardiff and am currently "between jobs" so I'm sure I could do some local ones for you.  If you email me the Glamorganshire and Gwent lists (greg55011@gmail.com) I'll see what I can do for you :)

Hello Greg, Sorry to hear that you have become unemployed for a while. Glad to hear that you don't intend to be idle. Many of the South Wales ones I managed to clear on a three day break from Devon about three years ago. Then I found the resting place to a number of munition girls and so my "wants" built up again. Anyway, here are my current requirements :-

GLAMORGANSHIRE, Aberdare, Cardiff, Crynant, Ebbw Vale, Llandaff, Llandough, Llanharry, Llantwit Major, Lstalyfera (or Ystalyfera), Neath, Pontypridd, Southerndown, Swansea, Ton Petre, Ystalyfera, Ystrd Mynach

Aberdare - Augusta DEVISCH died 2nd February 1916 and is buried in Aberdare cemetery. She was aged 21.

Cardiff - The name of Elsie Lavinia GIBBS, munition worker, (died 1/7/18) is on a memorial on Saltmead Gospel Hall War Memorial, Grangetown, Cardiff.

Crynant - Elizabeth THOMAS, QAIMNS, died 27th September 1921 and is buried in Crynant. Not sure which cemetery/churchyard if there is more than one.

Ebbw Vale - Mary Ann EVANS, QMAAC, is in section B, North border, 16.3. Whilst her name is on a CWGC memorial stone (which I have) the position shown is her grave (possibly unmarked). It is a photograph of the grave (unmarked or not) that I require. She may just be the same woman as below.

Mary Olwen EVANS, QMAAC, died 23rd March 1919 and is buried in Ebbw Vale. Not sure which cemetery/churchyard if there is more than one.

Doris GENNER's name is on a memorial in James Street Weslyan Chapel (now at Cenotaph).

Lizzie JOHN, munition worker, died July 1918, is buried in Ebbw Vale Cemetery, Waun-y-Pound Road, Ebbw Vale.

Llandaff - in Stone Hall, Howell's School, Llandaff is a memorial to nurses Kate BANKS and Gertrude ROSKELL. Photograph required.

Llandough - Emily Ada PICKFORD's name is on a brass Roll of Honour in Llandough Baptist Church, Llandough.

Llanharry - The name of Maud WILLIAMS is on a memorial in Penuel Chapel, Llanharry.

Llantwit Major - Eva Martha DAVIES, VAD, died 15th June 1918 and is buried in St. Illtud churchyard, Llantwit Major. Her name is also on the Llantwit Major war memorial.

Ystalyfera - Elizabeth A. JENKINS, munition worker, is buried in Holy Trinity churchyard, Ystalyfera.

Neath - C.A. HOWELL, red cross nurse, is on a Roll of Honour in Soar Maes-yr-haf Chapel, Neath.

Pontypridd - Florence Gwendoline HOWARD, TFNS, died 18th November 1914 has her name on a memorial in St. Catherine's church, Pontypridd.

Southerndown - Ellen Mariana BOOKER, VAD, died 22nd February 1917 is buried in St, Brides Major churchyard, Southerndown.

Swansea - the Swansea Cenotaph, The Esplanade, Mumbles Road, Swansea has a section re "munitions" and I need photographs of the names on it. Also Esther DEVONALD, munition worker, is buried in plot 155F, Danygraig Cemetery and I need a photograph of it (with or without headstone). Also Mary FITZMAURICE, munition worker is in plot 251W, Danygraig cemetery and I need a photograph of it (with or without headstone). Also Catherine HILL is in plot 123S, Danygraig Cemetery and I need a photograph of it (with or without headstone). Also Mary OWEN, munition worker who is buried in Danygraig cemetery (sorry, I have no plot number). Also Dorothy Mary WATSON, munition worker, died 31st July 1917, is in Danygraig cemetery (sorry, I have no plot number). Also the name of M.J. Evans, VAD, is on a Roll of Honour in Soar Chapel, Treforys (Morriston), Swansea. The name of Eunice THOMAS is on the Roll of Honour in Mynydd Bach Chapel, Swansea.

Ton Petre - the names of C. LLOYD, M. MORGAN and M. ROBERTS are on a Roll of Honour in the Jerusalem Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, Ton Petre.

Ystrd Mynach - the name of Edith HUMPHRIES is on a Roll of Honour in Bethania-Siloh Calvanistic Chapel, Ystrd Mynach.

What's still outstanding in Westhoughton Jim?

almost completed Harriet Mills in Pendlebury and gone a bit deep with Elizabeth Ann Tudge in Walkden because it interested me. Close to closing it now but the result will be mostly sweet with a little sour thrown in.

Still no joy with Ellen Allison in Bolton
