Remembering the following today.

Extract from the War Diary

95th Field Company, 7th Division, X Corps, WO95/1645

Polygon Wood

1-10-17 1st Section employed on forming operations dump. Trench map ref J.10.a.6.8. at the Butte

Heavily shelled whilst doing this work

L/Cpl 19313 S.S.King and Sapper 153793 S. Mugridge killed 2nd Cpl Barkess wounded

Some Sappers as well, Pollard, Beckett, Jenkins, Stephenson and Wells

L/Cpl 19313 S.S.King and Sapper 153793 S. Mugridge were buried in Hooge Crater Cemetery on the Ypres to Menin Road.

My Grandfather William Beckett survived the horrific injuries but died 25 June 1948 of related causes.
