I am planning one last push, but cannot find the data base on line. Fortunately I have the full text on disc. I have a major contribution on its way to me, then, when incorporated, I will ask Chris to consider moving the lot to the mother site.

i am looking at my grandfather's record in the royal naval division and am mystified by the various abbreviations and numbers

i've managed to find out what AFB 122, AFB 103 and AFB104 are through your forum

can anybody help with AFW 3016?

secondly, what are HA/3799, HA/2803, HA/3911, HA/30293 and HB/2803?

thirdly, what does D.O. mean in, for example: DO62, DO89, DO54,............

thanks

jamie

Hi Jamie

I also have just got my grandfather's Military records - he was in the Royal Naval Division and likewise I am having trouble with all the abbreviations - have you had any luck in getting to the bottom of what they mean? If so would you share your findings with me?

Thanks Helen

Thank you for that: this thread has been neglected by me recently: trying to complete FIVE articles for WFA and one for MHS Bull. has been a bit time consuming.

But I will return!

South African Discharge Certificate - D.D. 179(front)

Not really sure if the D.D. on these forms means Defence Department or Durban District, but it is interesting to note that his regimental number is DD82

I.A.F. X1843

British Army in India these last two posts show the front & rear of the Indian Army Form X1843 the only one I've ever seen. Although dated 1906 the 'Royal Arms' at the top of the certificate still carries Victorias crown.
