Photo 8: Belgian army retreating in october 1914.

Photo 10: court house of Veurne. Nowadays the courthouse is housed in a big ugly eighties stylish building in the city centre.

Photo 3: Market square in Veurne. King Albert watching the troops in 1914.

photo 2: Market square in Veurne. The house on the righhand side or pubs/tea rooms nowadays. The second house from the right was destroyed by a shell during the course of the war.

Veurne is actually an old spanish town. It bears a lot of influences of the Spanish in its buildings.

Kind regards,

Jan

Hello,

Most of tyhe building still exsist today. Nr 13 and 15 e.g. is the trainstation. (trains coming and going to/from De Panne to Ghent stop there. The building is protected by the government as a historical building.

The bridge over the Vaartstraat (Streamstreet) has changed over the years, but still is at the same location. Veurne really i worth paying a visit. It's not far from Ypres... .

Kind regards

Jan
