Sue Light Posted 27 September , 2005 Share Posted 27 September , 2005 Hilda Lilian Jones was born 20 February 1886, and her birth registered in the Edmonton district of London. Her father was a jeweller, and she was educated at High Barnet Grammar School. She trained as a nurse at Kensington Poor Law Infirmary from Jan 1910 to Jan 1913. She originally joined the QAIMNS Reserve and then, in 1918, she was one of the very few women to be transferred to the regular QAIMNS during the war [so they must have liked her ] She has a file at the National Archives in WO399/4406 Chris - I'm intrigued to know what your interest is in this woman, and also in Jeanie Barclay-Smith [previous thread]. I can see no local connection for you in either case - after the war Hilda Jones parents lived very near me, in Worthing. Is this random information gathering, or is there something that links the two? Sue
chrisharley9 Posted 27 September , 2005 Author Share Posted 27 September , 2005 Sue First of all thanks for the info. My reason for the interest is that I'm inputing as many medical personnel as possible into the medical database at the Roll of Honour site & these nurses mentioned are ones that I got stuck on.
