I would appreciate it if someone could put up a map of the Mory copse area in Aug 1918. I am going over to the Somme next month and taking a friend who's uncle was killed in the Mory copse area with the KLR on 24 Aug 1918

This might be one you could help me with Dave

Many thanks in advance for help received

Tom

Hi Tom

Mory Copse can be found on the right hand edge of the map entitled 'Gomiecourt, 57NW1.' It is just due north of Mory. The map I have seen is dated July 1918 and it shows a German trench position on the northern edge of the wood.

I'll try and attach the section, but if that doesn't work then PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send it that way.

Regards

LIT

Afraid I've only got one map of the area and that's from Feb. 1917. (if nothing else, it shows the location...)

...but the Trenchmaps CD-Rom has the July 1918 edition in 1;10,000 (57cNW1 ed.3A) which was the last 1:10,000 sheet produced during the war...
