Guest paulaford2004 Posted 26 September , 2005 Share Posted 26 September , 2005 Can anyone help!!! I'm trying to find out where my great uncle served in France but I'm not doing too well! He enlisted in the 2/10th battalion London Regt in 1917. On his discharge papers it also has 6th Rifle Brigade. Can anyone point me in the right direction as it's been suggested to check out the Royal Green Jackets but not really any luck there. Thanks in advance!! HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 27 September , 2005 Share Posted 27 September , 2005 The 2/10th London {Hackney} Battalion landed @ Le Havre on 4th February 1917,as part of the 169th Brigade,56th Division;in the Hallencourt area;on 11th November 1918 the 2/10th was @ Peruwelz area Belgium,175th Brigade,58th Division,So I expect if he didnt enlist until 1917 he was posted to the 6th{Reserve Bn] Rifle Brigade,The 6th RB remained in the UK @ Eastchurch from March 1916[Thames & Medway Garrison];Have you checked the Medal Index Cards to see if he was entitled to any War Medals,if he remained in the UK he wont be,so a card is unlikely to exist.Click Here For NA Online Medal Index Card Search
