Guest Differ Posted 25 September , 2005 Share Posted 25 September , 2005 I'm looking for info on my grandfather Patrick Michael (Mick) Creed who served in the 20th Battalion KRR (which I assume stands for Kings Royal Rifles). I believe these were known as the pioneers and were used in the war to provide and maintain the basic infrastructure such as trenches and latrines etc. Am I correct? I would like to view his service papers but found none at Kew. However it is possible he was awarded the Victory medal (m/101 By pge 884) British medal Silver War Badge (SWB) m/977 and that his number was Pte c/9592. Can anyone help me out with this, any information would be useful especially help on the regiment e.g. why and when was it form where did it serve and how do I get info on my grandfathers war record. I'm particularly interested in his home life at the time i.e. where did he join up where did he live and who with, who did he list his next of kin as etc? Thanks in anticipation, Chris Creed
