Chris Boonzaier Posted 18 September , 2005 Share Posted 18 September , 2005 The award document for the MM has the number of the award, which decree it was awarded under, etc. etc. Does anyone know if it is possible to research them and find the citation? There must be an archive somewhere out there......... Best Chris
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 18 September , 2005 Share Posted 18 September , 2005 Those awarded to British Recipients would normally have been Promulgated in the London Gazette, for those to French Nationals ;You could try the French War Office/Defence Ministry, they have been helpful in the past,With regard to those awarded to other Allied Forces{USA/Belgium/Etc;} I would suspect details may be contained in the Relevant Sevice Papers if they can be traced. Chris Boonzaier Posted 18 September , 2005 Author Share Posted 18 September , 2005 Hi, In both cases it is for French soldiers. I will see what the possibilities are through the French Ministry. Thanks Chris
Neil Burns Posted 19 September , 2005 Share Posted 19 September , 2005 Hi Chris, The Medal Militaire is not a numbered award so traceability would be similar to the Croix de Guerre. If that makes any sense! Neil
