From Bridge 18 at Tervate, or more to the south from Bridge 17 and 16, it went on small footbridges to the Feldwachen (German outposts in the flooded land) of Stuivekenskerke and Ferme Vicogne.

Relief of the troops in the outpost (30 to 40 men) and bringing in food and munition happened during night.

Furher away, the Belgians had their own outposts, for example at at Oud-Stuivekenskerke.
