mcderms Posted 15 September , 2005 Share Posted 15 September , 2005 Hi I have been offered a 1st July MM to a non-casualty, std line regt soldier but this is my first foray into 'proper' medal buying... Can someone offer me a quick idea of how much I should offer? Ta Mac

Can someone offer me a quick idea of how much I should offer? Ta Mac Marc, Depends on what line Regiment it is and whether it has the Citation with it for provinence. I would reckon around the £350-450 mark based on what you have said. But it depends how much you want it and if you have deep enough pockets!! PeteS Posted 17 September , 2005 Share Posted 17 September , 2005 If it has provenance as a 1st July 1916 award (such as regimental history or contemporary paperwork) I'd happily pay £500 and maybe a bit more
Coldstreamer Posted 18 September , 2005 Share Posted 18 September , 2005 Hello Might also be worth a check that its the Somme that the unit was on - not everybody got involved - the Cold Gds didnt really get stuck into the Somme campaign till September. July for them was quite a quiet month in fact. Ian
