Hello Cliff,

Any mention of 307605 Cpl W. Clark M.M. 1/8 Btn LG 14.5.1919 please.

Listed in Cliff Housley's Gallantry book but no citation. He also had the serial number 20091 at some stage.

Thanks,

Stuart

Stuart,

It would appear that Cpl. W Clark was awarded the M.M. for action during the attack on Ramicourt and Montbrehain but there is no mention of any action by him individually. To quote from the history " (Oct. 3rd) 1918 )The main Fonsomme line was now ours though won at heavy cost..........Ramicourt was eventually reached by oddments of A.C.and D. Coy's, the remainder of the Bn., having got too far left, there were several M/C. guns in the Village , and snipers were active, these were successfully mopped up.Having completed the capture of the Village which yielded a total of something like 400 prisoners.............

Where one and all did so well and so many gallant deeds were performed it is difficult to single out any for special praise, but it is desired to note specially the good work of the following Sgt. Wilson,L.Sgt Wicks, CPL., CLARK ......

Regards Cliff.
