Please could someone with access to SDITGW please check this individual's entry. CWGC lists him as 10th Bn but his number would seem to indicate a 6th Bn man.

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

SDGW confirms 1/10th. Born/enlisted Manchester. Died of wounds 19/10/18.

Might have been originally 6th and a later transfer to 10th??

John

Thanks John.

That was quick!

I was thinking the same.

Hopefully a Manchesters expert may be able to shed some light on whether the 1/10th received drafts from the 6th.

I forsee a search for the service papers in the near future.

Best Regards,

Matthew

to shed some light on whether the 1/10th received drafts from the 6th.

Not to my knowledge.

I was thinking more along the lines that he may have been with the 6th and then subsequently wounded or ill and, when recovered, was posted to the 10th.

He's listed in the roll of honour in the 10th Bn's history.

The Bn was in action just before the date of death. PM me with your email address and I'll send you the extracts (I seem to be having some difficulty uploading them here)
