Andrew Hesketh Posted 3 September , 2005 Share Posted 3 September , 2005 On my recent visit to the Somme I got caught in a torrential rain storm and, as it began to clear, I snapped this picture from the south of Trones Wood looking towards Maltz Horn Farm (marked by a faintly visible white crucifix on the horizon to the right). I was tracking the footsteps of the 15th Sherwood Foresters and they attacked from right to left here in July 1916 with many casualties and the leaden sky and rainbow created a truly eerie atmosphere. I don't claim it to be War Art as such, but this picture moves me, and I now use this as wallpaper on my PC. Has anyone else photo's to share that moved them? DaveBrigg Posted 11 September , 2005 Share Posted 11 September , 2005 Can I offer the following? The Cloth Hall, Ypres at night, sunrise in Belgium 21st November, and Langemark German cemetery. (Larger pictures available should anyone want them)
DaveBrigg Posted 12 September , 2005 Share Posted 12 September , 2005 Sorry - as anyone who has been there will know, that is the town hall in Ypres and not the Cloth Hall. Try again.
