Remembered Today:

Stratford Express

While going through my Grandfathers letters I found two newspaper clipping from the "Stratford Express" by Pte. C. Grange. He was in the same company as my Grandfather, "A" Company 1/6th Essex Regiment". It seems he regularly sent letters back to the paper. I was wondering where I should go to find more articles by him. Would the back issues of the paper be likely to be stored anywhere inparticular?

Also who many men would be in a "Company"?

Thanks for you help

Matt

It is possible that the editions of that paper can be found at the Newspaper Library, Colindale.

As far as the composition of a Company is concerned, go to the top if this page, and click on 'Go to mother site'. When you get there click on Terms and Definitions, and then on Battalion. It will tell you all about it.
