Remembered Today:

3rd Battalion of the Grenadier Guards

I am trying to trace the location of the 3rd Battalion of the Grenadier Guards during two separate periods of WW1

The first period is the weeks prior to the 19. 12. 1916. And the other is, a more specific date of 27. 3. 18.

I have obtained a copy of my Grandfathers army record, 22889 Guardsman Daniel W. Chadbon, from the Regimental Headquarters and this indicates that he was wounded twice.

The first date 19. 12. 1916. Is shown as his last day in France before returning to England. So I am presuming if he was wounded he would have spent time in a medical facility. Any clue as to the 3rd Battalions position at or immediately prior to this time would be very helpful.

The second date 27. 3. 18. is shown in the records as the date he was wounded, so, as above, if it were possible to pinpoint the 3rd Battalions location on a specific day I would be extremely grateful. Can information this specific be obtained?

He returned home on the 1. 4. 18. And was discharged “no longer fit for war service” on the 10. 12. 18.

Thank you for any help you may be able to give me, hopefully I may be able to plan a trip to visit his parts of the Battlefield soon.

Thank you again Jim Chadbon
