mick lowry Posted 12 July , 2003 Share Posted 12 July , 2003 A local church in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary has a First World War Memorial with a George Doyle of the South African Constabulary on it. He isn't listed on the CWGC site. Anybody any ideas on where he might be found? Mick

Ivor Lee Posted 13 July , 2003 Share Posted 13 July , 2003 Bob/Mick It is possible that it is the George Doyle who was in the Labour Corps. George Doyle is shown as being in 907 Garrison Guard Company. We know that men from Companies like this one were used as Guards at Military Prisons. So he may have been assigned to guard South African military prisoners. Perhaps someone on the list knows where South African military prison was located?
