Cockayne Posted 24 November , 2002 Share Posted 24 November , 2002 I wondered is anyone could help me identify the regimental cap badge in this photograph. I have tried the local library but with no luck. Unfortunately I do not know anything about the Soldier/Officer in the picture. The picture belonged to my grandmother who had family in the Midlands and Wales. Thanks Paul
Paul Reed Posted 24 November , 2002 Share Posted 24 November , 2002 Looks like 25th Bn Royal Fusiliers (Frontiersmen) to me. See their website: http://www.frontiersmenhistorian.info/fusiliers.htm
mutley Posted 25 November , 2002 Share Posted 25 November , 2002 Paul I would agree that it is the 25th Royal Fusiliers (Frontiersmen). There were three variations of the badge to my knowledge. The 25th fought with distinction in East Africa where Lt W Dartnell won a postumous VC on 3 Sept 1915. Ray Westlakes book Kitcheners Army provides pictures of all three types of badge on page 171.
