SpinnersChase Posted 24 June , 2005 Share Posted 24 June , 2005 Hello Re Pte Ansdell of the Coldstream Gds - did you know he was entitled to a SWB ? Ian <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Ian, Thanks for that, yes I discovered Pte Carnaby Ansdell's SWB medal card on the National Archive site today and downloaded it. I also looked to see if he had another "normal" medal card without success but as the SWB card lists both a Victory and British Star perhaps there was only this one. I'm researching him on behalf of his grandson and have written to the archivist at Wellington Barracks hoping to get a copy of his service records. Apologies if this is a stupid question, but is it possible to work out any more information about his service just from his reg no 21169? Perhaps I'm just too hopeful... The SWB card states "G S W head" in the box Cause of Discharge - could you suggest where I might be able to look that up please? Many thanks. Wendy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wendy, Once Glyn has confirmed he has your email address you might consider editing your post to delete the email address. There are spybots out there that surf for email addresses to send spam to so it's best not to leave them lying around for long. Coldstreamer Posted 27 June , 2005 Share Posted 27 June , 2005 Hello the service number only tells us when he joined - but thats shown on the SWB details..but he would 99.99% have served in France / Flanders as only odd men went else where The regiment will have the papers - but they arent cheap!
