Guest wrinklyone Posted 22 June , 2005 Share Posted 22 June , 2005 I was intrigued to find that the small village of Elton, Huntingdonshire, has two Great War memorials within a very few yards of each other. Underneath one of them there is a small wooden plaque commemorating Joscelyn, Baroness Lewal, who died 13 June 1917 at the age of 29 years. Is anything known of her, please? Guest wrinklyone Posted 22 June , 2005 Share Posted 22 June , 2005 Yes, that's the one. Thank-you. I've regarded this as a genuine war memorial, and wondered why there were two in close proximity. The other, in the entrance to the churchyard, is a conventional stone monument. It appears, then, that the lady's death in 1917 may have been coincidental, by which I mean that perhaps it had no connection with WW1?
