Roy Evans Posted 17 June , 2005 Posted 17 June , 2005 I am researching a man who went down on the 'Repro' but can find almost no information on this vessel. Can anyone help please? Roy
kin47 Posted 17 June , 2005 Posted 17 June , 2005 Hello Roy REPRO was a 230 GRT trawler built in 1910. Hired by the Admiralty in Feb 1915, she was sunk on 26 Apr 17 on a mine laid by submarine UC 41 off Tod Head. One officer and twelve ratings were lost in the trawler. don
Roy Evans Posted 17 June , 2005 Author Posted 17 June , 2005 Good Grief Don, don't you ever sleep? Anyway, where is Tod Head? Roy
kin47 Posted 17 June , 2005 Posted 17 June , 2005 Hello Roy Tod Head is 5 3/4 miles south of Stonehaven, Kincardineshire. Sleep? Hardly ever. don
Michael Lowrey Posted 17 June , 2005 Posted 17 June , 2005 UC 41 sailed from Helgoland on April 11, 1917 on her 4th patrol under the command of Kplt. Kurt Bernis. The mines near Tod Head, laid on April 19, upon which Repro sank also accounted for HMT Othonna on April 20th. The submarine sank a number of other vessels on this patrol (while UCs were minelayers, the UCII class had a decent torpedo attack capacity). Best wishes, Michael
