Hambo Posted 17 June , 2005 Posted 17 June , 2005 Draperju I have the Regimental history and found the following which may help pin your man down. They were in the Avions Sector and patrols were regularly sent out as they Germans were reported to be falling back from Lens. This heavy patrol activity brought a heavy shelling of gas on the night of the 5/6th September. As it happens the Germans held on to thier positions with determination until the 6th of October. On the 9th of September a patrol was sent out under 2nd Lt Millar which ran into considerable resistance. The following night of the 10th/11th of September a further patrol was sent out into No Mans Land under Lt D.Graham with the object of destroying the Germans in the post which had given Millar so much trouble the day before. "The enemy waited in another place and the platoon found itself ambushed. Bombs were thrown, killing one man and wounding Lt Graham and 8 of his platoon. One man was missing. A daylight patrol could find no trace of the missing of killed in the morning and the enemy remained quiet." Sounds like your man is very possibly one of the two victims of this exchange Shout if I can add anything else Hambo
