curranl Posted 9 June , 2005 Posted 9 June , 2005 Hello All, While looking up another man in Ireland's Memorial Records, I came across the above man. He has two entries in the Records: Shier, C. George. Rank Lance-Corporal, South Irish Horse; killed while carrying a wounded comrade under heavy shellfire, Cambrai, November 30, 1917; age 29. and the following entry Shier, Christopher. Reg. No. 25781. Rank Private (Lance Corporal), Royal Irish Regiment, 7th Battalion, killed in action, France, November 30, 1917; born Shanagolden, Co. Limerick. I think the South Irish Horse fought dismounted as the 7th RIR, but I am curious to know if anyone has come across this man. I have found him on CWGC. Regards, Liam.

curranl Posted 9 June , 2005 Author Posted 9 June , 2005 Hi Bernard, It's highly unlikely he was Jewish; much more likely he was Church of Ireland. Thanks for looking, though. Regards, Liam.
