I have just received a phone call rom my father to tell me that whilst clearing out my late Gt Aunts house he has found some medals, was I interested!!!!!!!!!

You can guess the answer I gave.

The medals were her fathers and would, from the description given seem to be to be a 1914 -15 Star trio.

I have done a search of MIC and two are shown.

Tock Wilfred W 25838 Pte RAMC and

Tock W 25838 Pte RAMC

The numbers tally with what is on the rim of the medals, but why 2 cards. I have not downloaded either yet as I want to be sure I get the right one.

Any advise/guidance?

Thanks

There may be a seprate card for either a 1914 Star, 1914-15 Star or SWB. It is not that rare for the VM & BWM to be on one card and others on another.

It is very likely that they are both his.

:) Thanks for the info on that basis I will download both as they are probably both his.

I seem to learn something new every day. When I posted the question I was sure someone would have and answer.

Since I started the research list seems to grow and grow.

I think I'm hooked

Yep! You're hooked.

Give up eating, send your wife to her mothers and sell the kids.

Your life's gonna change now.

If this is what I'm like now God knows what I'll be like after Saturdays trip to Ypres.

Incidently during the same phone call my father also told me that he had found a box of photos of Gt Uncle taken in North Africa WW2 together with medals and Gods knows what else, was I interested.

My answer "don't through anything away until I've been through it", I'm sure he does not fully appriciate the significance of all of these things - to me at least!!!!!

Not for this site though will need to visit the other one again soon.

You'd better sell the wife before the kids then!

Keith,

There would appear to be two MICs as his naming details are dissimilar - one has a full christian name, the other just an initial. Don't ask me why his name wasn't known when the issue of either the star or pair was done, but the discrepency was enough to cause the creation of a separate card. This is quite commonly seen, but usually for differences in the spelling of surnames.
