Here is another photo of Albert Ernest Bailey. I believe same uniform. Unfortunately not very good quality any more but hopefully someone will recognise it.

Albert Ernest Bailey 1888 - 1927

Many thanks

A quick look at the MICs brings up several Albert Baileys - D/6140 Private Albert E Bailey 4th Dragoon Guards appears to be the only cavalryman..

Definitely The Life Guards. Based on your second photo, the 1st Life Guards.

I would agree, Lifeguards.

If I recall correctly, looking at the first picture, Dragoon Guards had rounded corners on the front of the tunics and cuffs in facing colour with poited lace trim.

Yep he's a Lifeguard all right - but any idea of dates as to when the photos were taken? If he was born in 1888 he would have been 26 in 1914 and 30 at the end of the war. He looks considerably younger than that in both these photos.

Very definately a Lifeguard.....one can tell by looking at a color photo if he was in the 1st or 2nd by the color of his flask cord. It was red in the first and blue in the second. It looks as if the cord is red, which would put him in the First.

Hello everyone - thank you for these responses.

I originally posted two requests because I couldn't add two photos on the first request (my fault I think).

I have now added a post to the first request I made in the coloured photo. So as not to confuse the issue too much.

Kind regards

Jan
