Guest Ian Topham Posted 5 July , 2003 Share Posted 5 July , 2003 It is well documented that the Wellington Regt ,NZEF, were the only unit to wear the " Lemon Squeezer " Hat, both in Eygpt and during the Gallipoli Campaign, and that it was adopted for general wear by most Kiwi units ( except for Mounted Rifles Units), after that campaign. It was then, and still is, a pretty distinctive form of headgear, where did its design come from? and who introduced it into the NZ military? (The above question is often asked in NZ Military circles, and I have personally heard at least four different versions, what can the membership come up with as an answer?) Many thanks
