Garraway Girl Posted 29 May , 2005 Posted 29 May , 2005 Just read this on Yahoo News... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050529/ap_on_re_us/wwi_veteran Amanda
ypres1418 Posted 30 May , 2005 Posted 30 May , 2005 Thanks Amanda, I wonder if that is right, 30 veterans!, most of them must have lied about their age! mandy
Essexboy68 Posted 30 May , 2005 Posted 30 May , 2005 Thanks for the link Amanda, always good to hear of one these grand old gentlemen going strong. Mandy- surely it is not surprising that there are approx 30 US WW1 veterans left alive, considering the size of their population & the numbers who enlisted in 1917-18. Additionally, this number may include "foreign" veterans who emigrated to the States post WW1. Anyway folks, have a great Whitsun or Memorial Day, whichever is apporopriate. Mark
ypres1418 Posted 30 May , 2005 Posted 30 May , 2005 Your right Mark, I didn't think of that, thanks, has anyone a list of their names? Mandy
andigger Posted 30 May , 2005 Posted 30 May , 2005 Here he is.... never mind the goober on his right! Andy
Garraway Girl Posted 7 June , 2005 Author Posted 7 June , 2005 Thanks for the pics! I hadn't checked into the site for a while. Very nice to see the soldier from the article. Amanda
