MIC Interpretation please

Hi,

My Grandfather was in the Notts & Derby regt. On his MIC it denotes his regiment and his regimental number but then has an asterisk beside it.

The asterisk relates to the following that is written on his card

EM/2/2000-1.7.171/C of 7.7.21

Has anyone any ideas what this may mean

Rod

Rod.

This looks to be an "EM" (Emblems) reference.

Meaning that your man was entitled to and awarded an MID (Mentioned in Despatches) "Oak Leaf" (to be worn on the ribbon of the Victory Medal).

Not sure about the "Code", but the end bit could be the date (7th July 1921).

Mark.

Thanks Mark,

That makes sense, he was awarded an MID in Gallipoli in 15.

Thanks for your help
