Anthony Bagshaw Posted 25 May , 2005 Share Posted 25 May , 2005 A couple of weeks ago i managed to pick up three group photos of Officers of the Sherwood Foresters form a car boot. Many of the Officers are wearing their Great War medals so i'm guessing they were taken in the 1920's. There are around 25-30 Officers in each photo. They are in their original frames. Would you remove the backs to see what info you could find? I have left them as i am unsure what to do. I have taken a digital photo of them in the hope that some Officers can be identified but are too big to upload to the forum. (any help on me uploading them appreciated) I look forward to any replies!!
ypres1418 Posted 25 May , 2005 Share Posted 25 May , 2005 Anthony I would have to look, being a nosey parker, also you may find names written on them, you can always seal them back up or re-mount them if necessary, let us know how you get on , Mandy
Anthony Bagshaw Posted 25 May , 2005 Author Share Posted 25 May , 2005 Thanks mandy, I am very tempted to have a look but just not too sure whether it is ''right'' or not!
Paul Nixon Posted 25 May , 2005 Share Posted 25 May , 2005 I'm with Mandy on that one. My fingers would be itching... You could always get the backs restored professionally at a good quality framing shop and anyway, once they are on the wall, only you and 7000 odd Forum members would know that they had ever been touched. ypres1418 Posted 25 May , 2005 Share Posted 25 May , 2005 It could be like a time machine and they put a message in it for the next generation or two!, come on be brave, it's not like your going to the dentist or anything! Mandy
John_Hartley Posted 25 May , 2005 Share Posted 25 May , 2005 Taking the back off does no harm. Get it off! However, then be careful if the photo is then stuck to a backing sheet. Remember - procrastination waits for no-one. John

Do i post them on here to see if anyone could assist in identification or would it be a good idea to write to the museum to see if they can help? Help!!
