paul guthrie Posted 1 July , 2003 Share Posted 1 July , 2003 And if so, what goes on there July 1? Are there even any ceremonies? Of course the French were still right in the middle of the Verdun battle and I doubt they commorate July 1 but do not know.
Paul Reed Posted 1 July , 2003 Share Posted 1 July , 2003 They have a ceremony at Rancourt and Albert in memory of the French; I didn't personally manage a French sector today, but I was discussing the actions of the veteran 39th Division (heroes of Cote 304) who fought at Hardicourt-Maricourt on 1st July 1916 with someone today; so they weren't entirely unforgotten.
