I'm hoping someone can help interpret the MIC attachment.

203848 Pte. Harry G. Potter

I've worked out due to the help of another forum member that Pte. Potter's number indicates he was in the 4th Battalion, which I assume is confirmed by the 4/TF.

I'm now wondering if the /2/ indicates he was a 2/4th Battalion man.

From other posts discussing territorials in India I've gleaned that the 1/4th should only have been entitled to a BWM as they were posted to India for the duration.

So does the presence of a Victory medal confirm 2/4th service?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Matthew

Matthew,

The E indicates Hounslow Record Office, this office covered the Queens, Middlesex, East Surreys, Royal Sussex, East Kent, Cyclist Corps and the Royal West Kent Regiments.

E/2/103B is the Regimental Code for the BWM/VM, whereas E/2/101B was the code for the East Kents, E/1/104B Royal Sussex etc etc.

Hope this helps a little.
